Thanks for visiting our charter fishing website. You will find the latest information, discussions about the pros and cons of each aspect, and also, a large community of readers who regularly share their ideas and opinions on the latest developments. It is as important now as it ever was to examine the issue carefully. After all, without the facts, how can we know we are making the right choice?

We recently came across the article below and we have posted it on our site because it addresses some of the unanswered questions and raises some new ones at the same time. If you like what you see here, be sure to come back and, let your friends know.
How Shark Fishing Can Be An Addiction

By Ian Dennis

Shark fishing on shallow water

It is a well known fact that during summertime Sharks move from the deeper waters offshore into inland waterways and beaches. The Sharks seek warmer shallow waters to carry out mating rituals and to either lay eggs or give live birth. It is very important if you are interested in swimming or in landing huge fish from the bank. There is no other type of fishing (that I know of) where the angler has an exceptional chance of hooking on to a 500lb plus fish while fishing from the bank.

I was introduced to shark fishing a few years ago from an old man on the Pensacola Pier, who really knew how to catch a big fish.

Shark fishing equipment needed

First of all you need a powerful reel for shark fishing: a 16/0 Penn Senator from Bass Pro Shops. You also need some very strong line: 3000 yard of braided 80lb test and of course a rod to put it all on.

Shark fishing From the Beach

Ever since I meet that old man on the Pensacola Pier I have had the addiction of Shark Fishing since. I have been shark fishing beaches all over the South Eastern United States combing the beaches and piers for just the right sandbar, just the right current and tide. I normally rent a kayak from the local Beach Supply Store and sometimes camp outdoor, and sometimes I rent a hotel.

Shark fishing bait

The bait is hard to can be expensive and is often difficult to find. The best places to find fresh fish is at a fish market and usually Asian fish markets have a much wider selection to choose from. The most successful baits are Spanish Mackerels, King Mackerels, Bonito, Jack Crevelle and Mullets.

Shark fishing addiction

Shark fishing from beach or pier can sometimes bring in sharks over 10 feet long. If you try shark fishing ones, you might get addicted, and rush out to purchase your own equipment. I thing that Shark fishing is something the whole family can truly enjoy. It’s not just about catching a shark. It’s about good friends, family and beautiful beaches.

If you have doubts about daring to try out shark fishing or not – don’t be afraid. Try it out and you will very soon know why I love it so much.

Thank you for you time.

By Joseph Pressley

The redfish which is also referred as the red drum is a popular choice among many anglers. It can reach to up to 27 inches in length and can weigh to as heavy as 100 pounds. When they are still young, you would usually see them inshore and they grow big, they are great in population on offshore waters. One of the places where you can get a good catch of this kind of fish is at Orange Beach, Alabama.

But before making this kind of plan, you must remember that you need to get a fishing license at the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. You can do it online or call them at their office so that you will be able to purchase the license required before you pursue your plan. Aside from the license, you must pack all the gear that you need for this activity including your tazer x26 for more safety.

The red drum found in Orange Beach in Alabama is usually sheltered where there are a lot of reefs. You would need to have a boat and drive through these areas so that you will be able to have a good catch. If you have one then it would be easier for you to access these locations, but if you have none, you can always rent some boats for the day and pursue your plan of catching some good ones.

The next thing that you must do is to plan the time of the year where it would be best for redfish fishing. Generally all throughout the year, you can catch this type of fish within the area but according to some June is the most ideal time of the year. You can plan for a great fishing adventure during this moment and maybe invite some close friends or family members to come with you.

Aside from these essential things, you also need to learn about the type of bait that you must use so that you will be able to attract this type of fish present at Orange Beach. You can choose from dead, live or artificial baits. Dead bait can include a portion of mullet, pinfish or croaker. Shrimps, pogies, finger mullet are few examples of the possible live bait that you can use because these are the ones that this fish mainly feed on.

If you wish to join a fishing trip for redfish, charter boats would be a wise choice. You will be able to gain some tips and techniques on how to get some good catch, where to locate such fishes and what gear would be appropriate to use. Even when you are planning to go off shore, you must still have one of your safety devices like stun guns for instance because you will never know what will happen once you reach different access points.

These are the things that you have to do when you plan to go fishing and catch some redfish at Orange Beach in Alabama.

By Callie Morris

Fishing is not only a great hobby for many anglers it is a passion and that means everything needs to be right when they go out on the ocean. This means serious sport fishers make sure when they go out on the water the boat they are on is perfect and meets all their fishing needs, this is why the use a sports fishing charter is the first boat they think about.

The sports fishing charter is a boat that has all the amenities and is set up for fishing whether it is for a sports fishing trip or to use during a tournament. This is when it is used to provide extra fuel when needed so the team can go to where the fish are, provide replacement equipment or repairs. This is also a boat that has all the amenities and a professional chief for the team to relax after a hard day of competing. A good meal, some time in the lounge for strategic planning for the next day of the tournament, a workout in the fitness room and a night’s sleep in a stateroom filled with comfort. Having these kinds of advantages is what sets the team apart from the other teams competing; they are not going home tired from being stuck on a small boat with poor sleeping accommodations and not much space.

This is the perfect kind of sport fishing; the sport fishing charter takes all the work out of being on the water and leaves all the time for fishing. After all fishing is what it is all about, not boating and there is no boating when talking about a sport fishing charter. This is the luxury yacht that has all the amenities not only for the fishing team, but also for the family. Taking a fishing trip on a boat like this means that the family, even the members that don’t find your passion what they want to do for vacation amenities they like. They find being out on the water on a sports fishing charter like spending a vacation as the only guest at a luxury hotel, with expertly prepared meals, swimming, a Jacuzzi and other amenities. A crew that are professionals to make everyone on the boat comfortable and everyone only includes the people you have invited on the sport fishing charter.

This is the type of trips that the professional sports fishers take, because fishing is hard work. If you are not on a boat that has the setup for fishing, one that can get you to the deep waters where the fish are biting then it could be a trip where you don’t find the big fish. This is one thing that sport fishers know, it has to be a sport fishing charter that is setup for sport fishing to bring home the fish you have waited to stand along side of while having your picture taken. The great thing about this is it doesn’t matter if the fish is caught while team fishing or fishing with the family; you still fought the battle and won.

These are tough times. And many of us are feeling it in our wallets. But .. No matter how tough times are, we can't forget the basics. And charter fishing definitely is one of the basics. And, without the basics taken care of, how can you get started?
Below is one of the best articles we have ever read on the subject. It lays everything out nicely, it's easy to read, and, understand, it touches on all of the key issues, and, best of all, when you have finished reading it, you will definitely know which is a very good direction to take given your circumstances.
Things To Know About Fishing Charter

By Travis Clemens

Recreation is an essential factor in the life of every human being. The anglers or the fishermen represent the largest single group of recreational seekers, and have a decided advantage over the other groups who utilize nature’s creatures and elements for recreation or food.

The popularity of fishing in many areas has been largely based upon the angling pressure, which is far beyond the normal capacity of the streams and lakes. There are species of fish for every type of angler and each one may choose the species of fish or the method of fishing that has the greatest personal appeal or attraction.

It is for this reason that many people are enticed to spend their vacation in a fishing activity. But, for people who would like to have planned fishing activities, they opt for fishing charters.

Fishing charter is one way of enjoying fishing even if an individual does not have the means or the equipment as far as fishing is concerned. It aims to provide the necessary services in a fishing activity.

However, not all fishing charters are created equal. Hence, it is important to know the factors required to be taken into account before jumping into conclusions.

Here is a list of some mportant factors that need to be considered:

1. The cost of the trip

Like any financial decision, people who would like to use fishing charter should know the required charges of the trip.

It is best to know the necessary requirements like deposits or contract agreements before committing to a fishing charter.

Best of all, people should be aware of the items they are paying for. They should know what the kinds of services included on the package are.

2. The length of time required in each charter trip.

Most captains are enticed to do a little fishing before going back to the dock. This will not pose a problem at all but if it will cost the person, who requested the service, additional charges for extra minutes or hours spent beyond the agreed number of hours, then, that is a problem.

Hence, it is important for the individual to know what time the charter will start and end.

3. The captain

It is important for a person who wants to engage in a fishing charter to know the competency and the skills of the captain. Hence, in order to have a successful fishing activity, it is best to get the experienced captain.

A fishing charter is one way of enjoying fishing at its best.

Feel free to carry on reading and browse more articles like the one below. We have exciting resources that were gathered by our experts in charter fishing.
Travel to Virginia Beach and Experience a Deep Sea or Striped Bass Fishing Charter Trip

By John C. Banks

Inshore fishing on Virginia Beach charter boats may include trips for striped bass, sea bass, and both red and black drum while offshore fishing charters target tuna, sharks, dolphin, billfish and other species. The area is world famous for its saltwater fishing.

One well known fisherman is Captain Keith Harlan who fishes the Mega Bite out of Virginia Beach. He has fished local waters from the Eastern Shore, Chesapeake Bay, and Virginia Beach to Cape Hatteras for over 30 years. Captain Keith’s vast fishing experience also includes the waters of Barbados, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas, Bermuda, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Key West.

In the summer months, offshore fishing from Virginia Beach is excellent. Captain Keith described Virginia offshore fishing saying, “Nothing is etched in stone with fishing around here but chasing yellowfin tuna thru much of the summer is our main activity”. These tuna like deeper water for the most part, often being caught in water from 30 to 100 fathoms. “We watch the satellite shots to get a general idea of how far north or south the tuna are” explained the Captain.

Fishing spots include the Norfolk Canyon, Cigar, Weather Buoy, Wayne’s World and others. These hotspots range up to 75 miles out of Rudee Inlet. In addition to yellowfin tuna, anglers catch bluefin, bigeye, skipjack and longfin albacore tuna, dolphin fish, wahoo, billfish and sharks.

Of interest to many anglers are the trips that reach the Norfolk Canyon. Just before reaching the canyon walls are slopes that are often very productive areas. Near the canyon walls, the bottom becomes steeper and rockier. Fish congregate along the drop offs to catch food that is caught in the hard running current. Along the edges are lobster traps which are marked by orange buoys or “lobster balls”. The buoys attract dolphin fish which in turn attract the larger marlin, swordfish and sharks which feed on them heavily. A trip by a buoy can be uneventful, or one or more lines might be attacked by mahi mahi, tuna, marlin or other fish.

Late August and September often feature the best fishing with anglers seeing larger numbers of tuna as well as an influx of wahoo and bull dolphin. Offshore fishing continues into October, when windy weather and falling water temperatures make fishing less productive.

After the offshore season winds down, Virginia anglers enjoy excellent striped bass fishing. Known locally as rockfish, these delicious fish migrate down the East Coast and congregate in the lower Chesapeake Bay and coastal waters from November thru March. Anglers sometimes catch monster rockfish, exceeding 50 lbs. The Virginia state record rockfish has been broken many times recently, with some of the biggest fish being caught out of Virginia Beach Virginia.

These beautiful gamefish love cold and windy weather and feed in immense schools along the coast. Local charter boat captains such as Captain Keith of the Mega Bite keep watch on local fishing and are usually able to find the fish reliably when a winter weather window of opportunity becomes available.

Click on the links and start reading!
Kayak Fishing: The Evolution Of Fishing Kayaks And Kayak Fishing Hand Paddles.

By Ed Halm

Paddle sports, particularly kayak fishing, are the fastest growing water sport today. Kayaking, canoeing and rafting are now destination activities. With all the green and eco friendly activities available, paddle sports have dominated the outdoor adventure scene. Paddle sports are low impact on the environment, inexpensive, thrilling and always memorable.

Not to be left out, the fishing and sporting communities wanted in on this explosion. Kayakers, anglers and sportsmen merged concepts and technologies. Along with diversity came opportunity. New specialty equipment, gear and accessories evolved. Fishing kayaks and kayak fishing hand paddles evolved from this call to action.

With the rapid growth of paddle sports, there has been a definitive diversification of the sport into various disciplines. All the technological and manufacturing advancements have fueled the sudden increase in the sport. Kayak fisherman and kayak sportsman have recently dominated the growth in the paddle sports arena.

Kayak fishermen, also known as kayak anglers, and kayak sportsmen require specialty equipment, gear and accessories to effectively pursuit their sport. Their fishing kayaks and fishing hand paddles are specifically designed to accommodate their dynamic environments and distinctive sporting activities.

Kayak anglers and sportsmen have designed boats for easy access and mobility. Many facets of their kayak design reflect accoutrements that were found only on motorized fishing vessels. Today you can find rod holders, live wells, storage compartments, battery wells, fish finders, anchors, etc. If they can fit a specialty fishing accessory on a twelve to fourteen foot kayak, they will try to get it on there! They even have twin hulled, foot propelled and battery operated kayaks for the hard core anglers.

For ease of access and dismount, the anglers use a modified version of the sit on top kayak, or SOT. SOT’s were a natural conversion platform for kayak anglers. These boats are self bailing, meaning that any water that gets in the kayak will be drained away by gravity. Getting on and off is much easier than a sit in kayak. Turning or sliding around to access tackle or gear behind you is a much simpler evolution.

With this approach to fishing from kayaks, came another conundrum that caused problems in the kayak angling community. How do you paddle and fish at the same time? Think about it. Can you hold your fishing rod and a kayak paddle at the same time?

Paddling your kayak and fishing at the same time became a comedy on the water. It takes two hands to wrangle a seven foot kayak paddle, no matter how you hold it. Throw in a fishing pole, and you soon realize you need three hands!

Kayak fishing hand paddles evolved from pioneering anglers solving this problem with ping pong paddles, Kadema paddles, modified badminton racquets and the sort. They could hold onto their fishing rod and with the other hand paddle their boat stealthily toward their prey.

It soon became apparent that flailing a seven foot paddle is not conducive to shallow water, or skinny water fishing. The fish can see you! The best way to sneak up on your prey is to glide stealthily toward them. While holding your fishing rod, using a little six or seven ounce fishing hand paddle to propel your kayak, about 16″ long, is perfect for the task.

As you begin your foray into kayak fishing, do your research. Peruse the internet, talk to local anglers, visit local outfitters and try various kayak platforms and fishing hand paddles. That little effort will certainly make your fishing trip much more rewarding and memorable.

Fish on!!

If it helps clear the fog for you, please let your friends know about our website, as it might be useful for them also.
Barramundi Fishing in Thailand – An Amazing Days Fishing for the Ultimate Predator

By Jason Butler

Firstly, I have to admit my ignorance, when I was told that there were Barramundi in Thailand I was very surprised. Thinking they were only native to Australia, it was pointed out to me that these fish in fact populate many freshwater lakes throughout Asia. So I went along to Bor Num Lake with a friend of mine (John); who is also a keen angler and has been living in Bangkok for over thirteen years.

The lake is actually called Bor Num Barramundi fishing park, and the ticket for the day cost 100 Thai baht (approx 2 British pounds or 3 US dollars), excellent value for money. It is possible to hire spinning rods and tackle for an additional 100 baht per person. Bor Num Lake also offers the chance to try your hand at fly fishing; the price is the same which ever code of fishing is chosen. It was suggested to us that we use lures when fishing for the barramundi, we were in total agreement -lure fishing always appeals- as the action and excitement is second to none when fishing for predators using this system.

It turns out that fishing for barramundi is extremely popular amongst Thais, especially at the weekends where many come to enjoy the fishing activities. Though catching and eating your quarry is something that has never appealed to me, many anglers here, Thais and foreigners alike do. You can enjoy these fish in the restaurant for -an additional cost- if you so wish, the fish is prepared by the local chefs to your taste (the lake is frequently stocked, to counter the fish taken for the pot). You can always put the fish back if this is not your bag.

There is not much protection from the sun here, so one must stay well covered up as the sun will easily nuke the skin, even sun block struggles to keep the rays at bay. So a good hat and a long sleeved shirt are the order of the day.

The staff were very friendly giving us plenty of tips and advice, without which I feel we may have struggle to catch; when fishing here one needs to use different techniques than when at home fishing.

The Barramundi have been farmed commercially in lakes here in Thailand for over twenty years, they are extremely aggressive hunters and when hooked give one serious fight. Usually clearing the water with energetically charged leaps, which causes large splashes as they land again, bringing the angler much approved applause and cheer from the local observers.

We found that poppers with a fly attached to a 30lb leader proved to be the most successful lures (as recommended by the guide). Barramundi have a sharp gill plate and the larger fish can cut through 40lb Fluorocarbon shock leader in one swipe. We used bait casting rods 6 feet in length and bait casting reels which are used specifically for lure fishing (they look very much like multiplying reels).

The lake is not a fish farm and it is quite easy to blank here if the wrong methods are used, but if you get it right a fantastic day will be had. The fish do vary in size form 1kg (2.2lb) up to and beyond 10kg (22lbs).

Unbelievably the first cast of the day resulted in John hitting into a monster, with in seconds this Barramundi leapt clear of the water creating much excitement in the camp (the guide pointing out that when the fish breaches the water, it is best to lower the tip of the rod, so as not to give the fish too much chance of shedding the hook) John then proceeded to wrestle for a further five minutes with his quarry, again the magnificent barramundi cleared the water several more times before finally subduing to the net. A 4.8kg fish on the first cast and about twenty more in total, not bad at all for a couple of beginners.

A few tips:-

It is debatable whether to use a tour company or not. If you are confident of finding your way and have your own transport then it is not essential to pay the extra for a tour company. The staff at Born Num is very experienced and probably knows more about their water than the guides from agencies.

If live bait fishing you must buy out the fish, you can not catch and release when live baiting due to the almost guaranteed take.

A small tip is appreciated but not compulsory for the guides at Bor Num – we gave B100 tip for good service all day

The guides are kept very bust usually looking after 5 or 6 anglers at a time.

Food and drinks are ordered via the guide, so you do not have to leave the waters edge.

Toilets are not European Style, but clean.

There is a very friendly atmosphere and the local fishermen are only too willing to help, giving friendly advice and tips without being too intrusive.

So all in all a fantastic day was had by all and we became hooked ourselves and will certainly be returning to Bor Num very soon.

The article below is the latest addition to our site and it is a real education to read. We hope to sparks some ideas for you.
How To Tackle Florida Charter Fishing

By Chonticha Marijne

Okay, so you’ve tried fishing in local streams, rivers and lakes, and you’ve even tried a few other prime fishing locations like Baja, Alaska and Canada. Now, try something totally different and head south. Fishing in Florida offers anglers of all ages and skill levels something to talk about, whether you’re fresh water or salt water fishing.

Florida has a wealth of fishing environments and ecosystems to tackle, from the coastline to the swamps to interior streams and lakes. Florida chartered fishing trips and vacations can be planned for individuals, groups or families, and it all depends on what you want to do. Many fishermen heading south to Florida waters want to try both fresh and salt water fishing, so charter companies in Florida are readily available both online and off to answer questions and provide schedules and pricing guidelines.

If you want to split your fishing into both fresh and salt environments, narrow your search to find chartering opportunities that offer both a wide variety of services, at reasonable costs, either on the Internet or through your local travel agency. Better yet, find where you want to fish and then call down to local Chamber of Commerce offices in those areas for a listing of local charter services. Then, always follow up with a call or logon to the BBB’s database to make sure the company you want to deal with is on the up and up.

When planning to charter a vacation, determine ahead of time how many people are going to be in your party, what it is you want to fish for, and how many days you’re wanting. Doing so will help your potential charter business determine a more specific cost for you. Many Florida charter companies offer a wealth of fishing opportunities, whether you want to fly fish, or shore fly fish, wade fishing as well as drift fishing. They may offer you opportunities to not only fish from the deck, but to anchor in coves or inlets and take you ashore. That’s why it’s best to come up with your own special wish list, and then go from there when speaking to any charter company representative for options and prices.

Some charter fishing outfits offer bunking for small parties, while others need to take you and your friends or family back to shore for hotel lodging. Always ask beforehand what services they offer, including food, lodging, as well as half day, full day, and longer chartered opportunities. If possible, check to make sure the boat and captain and crew you’re chartered are legally licensed and that the boat is in good working order, complete with adequate numbers of life vests and a dinghy in case of rough weather or accidents. While many experienced adults, anglers or not, scoff at such topics, weather on the Florida coastline often changes quickly, and it’s better to be prepared.

Planning a chartered fishing vacation in Florida should be fun, and not filled with hassles and problems. You can judge future service on board by service provided when you make that call, so pay attention to attitude, willingness to help as well as pricing. If you feel uncertain, try making additional calls until you find exactly what you’re looking for. Chartering a vessel isn’t cheap, so make sure that you get your money’s worth.
